Seawall Construction

a seawall under construction
Seawalls are built to help avoid erosion. They are offered in various designs, constructed with a variety of materials, such as a rip rap design constructed of large stone slabs or steel seawalls, the most requested type of seawall that we construct. Regardless of the type of seawall that you need, we can construct it for you at Texas Seawall Services. The seawalls that we construct are all intended to do the same thing, prevent shoreline erosion. Take the appropriate measures by contacting us to construct your seawall and protect your property.

Types of Seawalls
There is various type of seawalls to choose from. Here are some of the most requested seawalls constructed today:

  • Large Stone/Boulders – Many of the inland walls that are constructed look similar to the large stone or cobbles that we use to construct large cobble seawalls. We use large rocks, which are held together using mortar. Large cobble seawalls are ideal for properties where these are light or moderate waves.
  • Concrete Seawalls – This type of wall is used where there are heavy waves that impact a shoreline. We construct concrete seawalls with the use of large blocks placed on concrete, poured into place. We start our process by constructing deeply anchored walls, embedded into the soil. They are dug into a deep foundation or in piles that go as deep as the bedrock.
  • Rip Rap Seawalls – The rip rap seawall is a combination of big and small boulders and pieces of concrete. Shorelines that are reinforced using rip rap are adequately placed where plant life can be found growing from them. They are effective at keeping soil erosion from occurring in areas where there is moderate wave activity.

Seawall Styles
If you are curious about the available style options, consider the following:

  • Gravity – A gravity seawall is anchored with rocks below the soil line and is secured with piles inserted into the soil, which goes down to the bedrock. This type of seawall is durable enough to withstand the strength of the waves. However, they often require reinforcement that will enable them to cracks and damages to the wall.
  • Curved – Curved seawalls are built to appear like the uneven waves that hit them, along the shoreline. It is effective because it helps to deflect the water and minimize the soil erosion toward the bottom of the seawall.
